2018 NY Resolutions - 10 Things I'll Be Doing More Of This Year

4 January 2018

Hey Everyone! Hope you are all well and are having a lovely first week of 2018. Unfortunately I ran myself into the ground over the new year with regards to work and have ended up with the most horrendous cold so I am currently sat in bed watching friends and writing up blog posts which to be honest I can't really complain about as I'm thoroughly enjoying just chilling out. I was a bit unsure about whether or not to write a New Year's resolutions post this year as, and I'm going to be really honest here, I never really tend to stick to them and I always end up feeling really disappointed in myself so I thought I'd do a continuation post. There are many things that I started in 2017 that I would like to do more of throughout 2018 so I thought why not do a post listing all the things I hope to do more of. I've kept it to 10 things as I think any more would be a bit unrealistic and I've also split it up into different categories, life, blog and beauty as these are the three main things that I am going to be focusing on in 2018. I hope you enjoy this post.

Life Goals

1. Be More Positive - Positivity is something I am very good at imposing onto others. If my friends feel down about something I'm always the person to be like 'No you can do it, you've got this, you've got nothing to worry about' etc, however when it comes to me I am the complete opposite. 2017 definitely taught me that I need to be more positive and it helped me to realise that things I am often quite negative about end up being the things I am totally wrong about and really shouldn't worry about as much as I do. Positivity is definitely something I'll be throwing around like confetti throughout 2018. (Let's just ignore the cornyness please).

2. Choose Kindness - If there's one thing I absolutely cannot stand it's nastiness and constant negativity. 2017 was a year I came across a lot of two faced people and came to realise that some people who I thought were my friends were not actually my friends at all and were actually quite nasty. I'm never the sort of person to retaliate or be nasty back. I never have been and even though I did this throughout 2017 anyway I will continue to choose kindness in 2018. Life's way too short to fight nastiness with nastiness.

3. Make More Time For Friendships & Other Relationships - I have a short blog post coming up soon about this subject but again spending more time with friends, family and other people close to me is definitely something that is top of my my priority list. I do have a full time job and when I am off I tend to be so tired so I spend all day in bed or I work on my blog. That is going to stop this year. I'm going to make time for the people who matter the most to me. Last year taught me that you can never be sure about what's around the corner and it's so important to spend time with the people you love and who mean the most to you.

4. Stop Comparing Myself To Others - The classic blogging line. All bloggers no matter age, gender, shape or size tend to compare themselves with other people and I am no different. I have come to realise that this is actually something that is pretty unhealthy. We compare ourselves with other bloggers, a lot of whom we don't actually know but instead are judging them by what they put online. We forget that they are only showing us the best parts of their lives. We don't know what goes on behind closed doors or away from the screen. I'm definitely going to focus on my own life and other aspects of it rather than wishing I had what other people have or appear to have and I think others need to be the same too.

Blog Goals

5. Work More On My Instagram - The last couple of months I have fallen in love with instagram again. Despite the algorithm getting a lot of people down (including me) I still enjoy the app. I love sharing photos and this year I am definitely going to work on more imagery that I know people will love. I'm always taken photos and my phone is always in my hand so I'm definitely going to make sure I use it more proactively. I can't wait to see what content I create. Make sure you follow me HERE or head on over to @_fleurdanielle to see what I come up with throughout 2018.

6. Plan & Schedule Content In Advance - I definitely didn't blog as much as I would have liked to in 2017. I ended up either being way to tired from work or and I'm just going to be honest year didn't have the motivation to write a post and I didn't want to throw out content just for the sake of throwing out content so 2018 is definitely the year I work harder on my blog and schedule meaningful posts rather than type one up on the whim for the sake of uploading a post.

7. Blog At Least 6 Times A Month - In relation to my last point, I am going to aim to blog at least a minimum of six times per month. I personally don't think that's unrealistic and bare in mind I have a full time job that involves shift work so I really hope I can stick to this. I've already got a lot of content scheduled for the remainder of the month which currently brings it up to more than 6 posts so I am already achieving this goal. Fingers crossed I can keep it up for the rest of the year.

Beauty Goals

8. Drink More Water - I actually consumed a lot of water throughout 2017 and I'm so pleased with how well my hair, skin and nails look because of it. I got a lot less headaches when drinking water and I just felt a lot better because of it. I've always been the girl to turn to juice or fizzy drinks and in 2018 that is something I am definitely going to cut out.

9. Get More Sleep - Now this one I have set as a goal however doing shift work means it will be a very challenging goal indeed. I am going to make more of an effort this year to do less crazy hours and look after my health a bit more and definitely get enough sleep. I suffer from insomnia but I am determined to kick its butt in 2018.

10. Look After My Feet More - Yeah probably not one to read if you hate the subject of feet and it makes you wanna vom but my feet are seriously vile. This is mainly due to my job and spending the vast majority of it walking around all day in heels. I also have extremely hard skin at the bottom of my feet which drives me crazy. It's definitely something I hope to combat a lot more during 2018 as it's definitely something that makes me self conscious during the summer time.

So there we have it, 10 things that I am definitely going to be doing more of in 2018. I've set little reminders in my journals and on my phone to remind me to do all of these things and I definitely look forward to the end of the year when I can look back on these and tick every one off. Are any of my goals on your own list? What are your 2018 resolutions?

What things will you be doing more of in 2018?
Hugs and Kisses
